Recalls (3)

fuel system, gasoline · 2014-09-19 · 14V576000

Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain model year 2014 Toyota Avalon, Camry, Sienna, and Highlander and model year 2015 Lexus RX350 vehicles. Fuel may leak from the one of the fuel delivery pipes in the engine compartment.

Risk: A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source increases the risk of a fire.

Remedy: Toyota will notify owners, and dealers will replace any of the suspect fuel delivery pipes free of charge. The recall began November 17, 2014. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331.

suspension · 2014-07-11 · 14V715000

Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain model year 2014 Toyota Camry, Camry HV, Avalon, and Avalon HV vehicles equipped with 16-inch and 17-inch rims. In the affected vehicles, the left-side front suspension lower arm may have been incorrectly manufactured. As a result, the left side lower arm may not have enough clamping surface area for one of the bolts that secures the lower arm to the lower ball joint.

Risk: Because of the insufficient clamping force, the lower arm may separate from the ball joint, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Toyota will notify owners, and dealers will replace the left side lower arm, free of charge. The recall began on December 12, 2014. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331.

visibility · 2013-10-17 · 13V505000

Toyota Motor Engineering & manufacturing North America, Inc. (Toyota) is recalling certain model year 2013-2014 Camry and Camry HV, model year 2013 Avalon and Avalon HV and model year 2014 Corolla vehicles. In the affected vehicles, the windshield wiper switch assembly may short circuit. As such, these vehicles fail to conform to the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard, No. 104, "Windshield Wiping and Washing Systems."

Risk: A short circuit could cause inoperative windshield wipers, reducing driver visibility and increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Toyota will notify owners, and dealers will replace the wiper switch assembly, free of charge. The recall began on November 8, 2013. Owners may contact Toyota at 1-800-331-4331.

The torque converter is malfunctioning. This malfunction can damage the entire transmission by releasing metal debris into the transmission system due to severe shuddering. If the torque converter fails while driving, I could lose acceleration power and potentially lose power steering assist and brake assist if the engine stalls, making the vehicle significantly harder to control. This creates a serious safety risk, especially at highway speeds where a sudden loss of power could increase the risk of a collision. The torque converter was previously subject to a recall, but the recall has since expired. The issue has been reproduced and documented by an independent service provider. Although no warning lights appear on the dashboard, the vehicle consistently shows symptoms associated with torque converter failure, including: * Intense shuddering * Loss of power during acceleration * Transmission slipping These symptoms indicate an ongoing and potentially dangerous drivetrain failure that poses a risk to driver and public safety.

Transmission shudder - noticed transmission vibration at speeds from 25 to 30 mph and before 50 mph. Took the car to a shop for wheel alignment, vibration still felt. Took to a dealer , Hamer Toyota in Mission Hills, CA., and dealer said, it could be just the transmission oil, so I had the oil change done. Problem was the same. Took it for tire rotation and balance, but problem was the same. Called the Toyota Company and Toyota said, the extended warranty on the transmission expired in 2022. I said, it’s only 100,000 miles, but less than 150,000 miles — which was the maximum extended mileage warranty. Toyota insisted they could not do anything because 2022 came 1st and not the 150k miles. Took it to a transmission shop and after diagnosis, had it .rebuilt. Rebuilding partially solved the problem, a little improvement from before. Took it back for more checking until finally, after valve body assembly replacement, shudder is gone.
