Recalls (9)

exterior lighting · 2026-09-06 · 26V373000

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2018-2020 F-150 vehicles previously repaired incorrectly under recall number 20V097. When the headlight switch is turned from "Autolamps" to "Headlamps On," the Daytime Running Lamps (DRLs) may remain fully bright instead of dimming to parking lamps as intended. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices and Associated Equipment."

Risk: Daytime Running Lamps that do not dim may reduce the visibility of other drivers, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Dealers will reprogram the body control module software, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed July 6. 2026. Owners may contact customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 26C28. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will become searchable on NHTSA.gov on July 6, 2026.

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2018-2022 Transit Connect, 2019-2020 MKZ, MKX, Edge, Continental, F-150, Nautilus, Fusion, 2019-2023 Ranger, Mustang, 2020-2021 EcoSport, Expedition, Navigator, 2020-2022 Escape, F-250 SD, Corsair, 2020-2023 Aviator, Transit, 2020-2024 Explorer, 2021-2024 Bronco Sport, and 2022-2024 Maverick vehicles. A software error may cause the rearview camera to display a blank image, or the image may remain on the display after the backing event has ended.

Risk: A rearview camera that displays a blank image can reduce the driver's view behind the vehicle. A rearview image that continues to be displayed after the vehicle is shifted out of reverse may distract the driver. Both of these situations can increase the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Dealers will update the rearview camera software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed September 4, 2025. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 25S72.

The air bag warning label may be missing from the dashboard. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirement Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 208, "Occupant Crash Protection."

Risk: Without a label that shows the proper restraint usage guidelines, the occupants may have an increased risk of injury in the event of a crash.

electrical system · 2019-12-11 · 19V805000

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2019-2020 F-150 vehicles. The fastener securing the Power Distribution Box (PDB) 12V cable and Battery Monitoring System (BMS) eyelets to the positive battery terminal may loosen and affect the vehicle's systems such as instrument panel displays and braking or steering assist. The engine could also stall.

Risk: Inoperative vehicle systems or an engine stall can increase the risk of a crash. Reduced braking and steering efforts increases the risk of a crash. This condition could also create a resistive short, increasing the risk of a fire.

Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the positive battery cable/BMS/PDB joint for excess sealant adhesive and remove any excessive adhesive, reassemble the joint, and retorque the fastener, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began November 25, 2019. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 19S40.

As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) numbers 202, "Head Restraints" and 207, "Seating Systems."

Risk: A seat back with an improperly assembled recliner mechanism may have reduced strength and may not adequately restrain an occupant in a crash, increasing the risk of injury.

Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and Ford and Lincoln dealers will inspect the seat structure and replace them, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began October 21, 2019. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 19C07.

The transmission will intermittently shift out of gear and sometimes in and out of gears at will when driving and slams into gears sometimes. This creates a massive liability when on the road.

I recently purchased/financed a 2019 f-150 xlt and told the dealer I was using the vehicle to tow a boat from XXX to XXX. The vehicle was inspected and released XXX and I left the morning of the third. Made it 2/3 the way and started experiencing dangerous down shifts and up shifts on the highway and off which almost caused me to get into a couple accidents. I managed to make it to my destination safely. Upon arrival the battery died and I thought that could be the problem. Purchased a new battery and this did temporarily help the issue and the vehicle ran more efficiently. Then on the return journey before I left I did a reset protocol for the transmission computer. That helped but eventually failed. I had more dangerous shifting towards the end of the trip just before getting home which also almost caused a accident. On top of all this my dog was thrown into the back of my seat from the issue. Im very upset and am considering legal action against the dealer and possibly Ford. I feel lucky to be alive. Ruined my vacation and has had me all worked up that I bought a lemon I still owe $24,000 in financing on. Thought my dog was injured too. Took him to the vet he was ok. Talked to a bunch of resources and spoke to a former Ford mechanic who admitted to me after becoming quite about my dog smashing into my seat. He admitted the same thing happened to him and his dog died. So there’s definitely a major issue with these transmissions which I have researched and found that ford was recycling foreign transmissions and putting their components in them and their failing left and right. Someone needs to further investigate this. I have been seeing some recent news reports of it. As well as every Ford dealer in the area is booked up in the transmission department for months. More than likely repairing these solenoid bodies and computer modules. Note: the dog was brought to the veterinarian to be checked out. Vehicle initially had a delayed shift, then began to engage really roughly. Thereafter, going down the interstate while traveling at a moderate rate of speed it briefly locked up and then I lost forward movement. After taking it into a dealership several times and reporting the problem, they couldn’t find any issues. Now the transmission gets hot when I travel for more than a couple of hours at around70 mph. I took it into service center today and they told me that Ford knows about the issue on my truck. They can fix it for a little over 10k, but I didn’t expect to purchase the truck with a defect. I would like some sort of recourse since I now researched the issues and found out it’s a serious problem all over.

The front passenger brake caliper came completely off when I was driving.the only warning I had was when my brake pedal went straight to the floor when depressed.i was forced to pull into a gas station and keep driving in circles till the vehicle slowed enough to drive into a curb to stop so I could put the vehicle in park.i then had my vehicle towed home and replaced the part myself as I dont feel comfortable taking my vehicle to the dealership to be worked on because of past experiences. The other issue is when I accelerate my pcm goes into what I would call it as limp mode.the vehicle has no power to accelerate and it happens randomly.it will stay like that until the vehicle is turned off and key removed for atleast 15 minutes.when started back up it is back to normal but if the accelerator pedal is push to quickly it will go back Into limp mode if I put the vehicle in sport mode it happens almost immediately. Also the transmission has random down and upshifts and shifts very harshly at times.i drive over a mountain pass atleast 5 times a month and have been stuck on the side of the road multiple times waiting for my vehicle to go back to normal to make it over the pass.

Harsh and erratic shifting, unintended down shift and sometimes never wants to shift and task meter sounds like it’s floor but don’t go no where. Close accident when at intersection vehicle would go on our green light and another car thought we were letting him go then our truck gear caught and we almost hit them My husband and I had a lifetime power train warranty and dealership will not honor because I missed 2 oil changes by mileage (379 miles and 1200 miles another time). No hope from Ford as know this transmission 10R80 is crap.
